Each of our facilities is designed to mimic a traditional home setting as much as possible. Residents enjoy comfortable living quarters, study areas and recreation amenities as they learn everyday living skills.
We provide individualized treatment programs targeting a full range of psychiatric and behavioral disorders. By integrating a milieu-based behavioral change format, individual and family counseling, psychoeducational groups and medical intervention when necessary, our staff and residents are able to develop a therapeutic relationship based on trust, respect and independence.

Kidz of Kingman non profit organization was formed by Carol Crist (and family) in late 2007. Since that time we have been doing wonderful things for the children in our community! We have a wonderful army of individuals, business supporters, contributors and volunteers! Once you have taken the time to tour our web site, and read about our programs, I know that you will be as excited as we are, and you will want to utilize our many programs; to help make a difference in the lives of the children in our community! It is overwhelming for me to see the smiles and sometimes the tears, on the faces of the children that we have helped; and the pride on the faces of the children who have helped those children in need; many times friends, neighbors and classmates. Thank you for your commitment to the children in our community.

The Mohave County Tobacco Use Prevention Program (MCTUPP) is using new technology to make its message relevant to youths. MCTUPP Program Coordinator Susan Williams and Community Health Educator Lauren Weber are bringing their message directly to young people via text messaging. "This specialized communication, called STop smoking Over Mobile Phone (STOMP) from Healthphone Solutions out of Seattle and New Zealand, is designed for the younger generation" Weber said. "Healthphone is launching it internationally." "And we are the first to use this in the United States," Williams said. "It is Healthphone's product. Mohave County has an administration portal on the computer that links us with them.
The MCTUPP text messaging program is funded by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Tobacco Education Prevention Programs. Anyone interested in voluntarily registering for the 26-week text messaging program should call the Mohave County Department of Public Health at (928) 453-0734. Smokers seeking additional support or telephone counseling can call the Arizona Smokers' Hotline (ASH-line) at 1-800-556-6222.
Teen Challenge started in Brooklyn, New York in 1958 by Rev. David Wilkerson. Wilkerson was a young country preacher pastoring a church in eastern Pennsylvania. One February afternoon, Wilkerson read an article in LIFE magazine about seven teenagers who were on trial for murder.
During a gang fight in Manhattan, these teens beat a young man to death. Troubled by what he read in the article, and sensing God wanted him to do something for the teens, Wilkerson made a trip from his hometown in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania to the urban area of New York City.
Some time after this, Rev. Wilkerson resigned his church in Pennsylvania and moved to the New York City area to work full time with teenage gang members. This new work was eventually called "Teen Challenge". Soon, Teen Challenge began to also offer help to those addicted to drugs and alcohol.
During these early years, a large home was obtained on Clinton Avenue in Brooklyn. A year-long residential discipleship program was started in this facility. This Teen Challenge program is still helping people change their lives in today! Due to its success, residential Teen Challenge centers began cropping up in cities all across America.
Most of the centers offer a 12-18 month residential program for men, women, boys, or girls. These centers are designed to help individuals learn how to live drug-free lives. The programs are discipline-oriented and offer a balance of Bible classes, work assignments, and recreation.
As of January 2002, at the beginning the 45th year, there were 178 Teen Challenge programs in the United States and another 150 in other countries around the world. A study completed by NIDA in 1974 claimed an 86% success rate 7 years after graduation. Other studies have been completed since that time that confirmed those findings.
The rest of the story of Teen Challenge is told in the best-selling book, The Cross and the Switchblade. This book has sold tens of millions of copies and has been translated into 35 different languages. Another exciting book that is available, Run Baby Run tells of notorious gang member Nicky Cruz who was one of David Wilkerson' s early converts in New York City. Beyond the Cross and the Switchblade and The Cross is Still Mightier than the Switchblade also detail important early history of Teen Challenge.
Teen Challenge has grown into one of the largest and most successful programs of its kind in the world.
Residential Program
Our centers offer a 3 to 6 month residential program for adolescents and 12-14 month residential programs for adults designed to help men and women learn how to live drug-free lives. During their 1-year stay, they do not hold down outside jobs, as all of their attention is focused on the program. We challenge the residents to embrace the Christian faith. We see that when they do, their lives are transformed and they find true meaning and purpose.
Residents follow strict rules and discipline. All residents adhere to a daily schedule which includes chapel, Bible classes and work assignments on or near the grounds.
